IBB: Out to prove he can be worse than the Worst

To become the focus of hatred on a global (or in this context, national) name and face-recognition scale is no mean feat. An individual who is so accomplished must have many atavistic attributes and lack many well-regarded human qualities.

For example, they must have balls of steel and believe in the acquisition of money or chattel as an end in itself. In addition, their actions and pronouncements must demonstrate their deep and unyielding contempt for all other human beings, their flagrant god-mentality and a deep belief in absolutism: their absolute authority. And they must lack a conscience.

I am not here referring to the ordinary, run-of-the mill lack of a conscience or morality that tends to get talked about quite a bit in self-help books and Sunday school, but the kind that discourages the self-regarded god from asking internal questions of themselves about their actions.

This kind of single-minded or one-track mind mentality can be better understood by studying the psychology of cave men: cave man see Jane; cave man like Jane, cave man take Jane. The Other God help Jane, Jane’s husband and kids…if He exists!

History is replete with name brands who do justice to this class of people: the German Kaiser, Wilhelm II at the end of World War 1,  Hitler at the end of World War 2, the Nuremberg 20, Joseph Stalin and the diminutive Napoleon; the list is endless.  These despots all share one condition. They are all rather mad.

These individuals distinguish themselves in one other unique way: rising to the consciousness when one thinks of evil personified:  villains who have contributed more than their fair share to human suffering, veritable monsters who motivated actions that occasioned physical and psychological pain, suffering and privation on unprecedented scales on fellow human beings in their self-centred quest for stolen wealth, glory and immortality.

While it could be argued that our  inaugural winner does not have the profundity to be accused of pursuing anything as complex and abstract as a positive legacy of good leadership or of harbouring latent chauvinistic expansionist motivations on behalf of his beleaguered country, he has nevertheless broken new ground in his unbridled pursuit of public funds by elevating cronyism, kleptomania, unaccountability and corruption to the status of government policy.

His regime lasting nearly a decade (1985-1993), institutionalized poverty, moral, social and economic stagnation and was culpable in perpetuating some of the worst human rights abuses in the history of the world’s most populous black country. His name is synonymous with corruption and misrule. Alone and disregarded, his  current fate is to be condemned to attempt to renegotiate the terms of his legacy of hatred by running for elective office.

So for one day only, let’s all hail the Smirking, Evil nincompoop; the General from Minna, aspiring Presidential candidate in a country he systematically ravaged over the unfortunate course of eight brutal years…he is the Inaugural Worst Nigerian on the Planet!
